Sina Technology News In the afternoon of December 20th, at the second Chongli Forum, Li Yanhong, the founder, chairman and CEO of Baidu, delivered a keynote speech on "The Age of Smart Economy: China's Innovation Changes the World". He pointed out that the past decade has been the era of the "Internet economy", and in the next decade, the "smart economy" will become the label of the Chinese economy. The difference between the two economic forms will be fully demonstrated in many aspects such as human-computer interaction, industrial intelligence, and infrastructure.
Li Yanhong believes that with the development of the smart economy, people will gradually reduce their dependence on mobile phones in the future, and will be replaced by new forms of terminals such as ubiquitous smart screens and smart speakers.
Artificial intelligence will also promote industrial intelligence and change production methods. For example, through robotic process automation, intelligent customer service and digital human employees, while improving efficiency, it also liberates enterprise employees from repetitive affairs.
Li Yanhong also pointed out that in the future, including education, medical care, transportation, etc., infrastructure in almost every field will undergo major changes. Taking traffic as an example, he pointed out that even if the vehicles have not yet achieved intelligence and networking, the transformation of traffic infrastructure such as traffic lights and roadside equipment can greatly improve the efficiency of traffic and reduce traffic accidents.
The following is the full text of Li Yanhong's speech:
Dear Governor Xu Qin, new and old friends, good morning everyone!
I am very happy to come to the Chongli Forum. Just like Ge Hui just said, strictly speaking, I am not a real ski enthusiast. Because in the past many years, I only skied about once a year on average. The short skiing time is half a day. If it is long, it will be one and a half days. Less.
But in the past ten years, nine of the last ten skis have been skiing in Chongli. Therefore, on the one hand, I am very affectionate about Chongli. On the other hand, I also feel very emotional. The changes in Chongli in the past ten years are actually a microcosm of changes in China. Since it had its first five-star hotel, it later saw skiing towns rise one after another, and the highway was opened to traffic from Beijing to Chongli and so on. A change a year, very fast.
We will usher in the Winter Olympics again in 2022, because Baidu is also actively participating in the Winter Olympics. As far as I know, there will be unmanned vehicles in the venue of the Winter Olympics. We will use Baidu's driverless technology to transform a car company's car for operation. At the same time, I estimate that, for example, Jingli Expressway will have corresponding roadside equipment in 2022, which is responsible for communicating with cars on the road, so that it can improve traffic efficiency and reduce the probability of traffic accidents.
I just said that the past ten years have developed rapidly, but the future will be very different. But what will be the difference between the past ten years and the next ten years? In fact, I feel that standing at such a time today, there will be 11 days to 2020, and will usher in a new decade, it is quite meaningful to think about this issue.
If we say that in the past decade, our Chinese economy has a very dazzling label, I think this label should be called "Internet economy". In the next ten years, if we label it in advance, what should China's economy be called? I think it should be called "smart economy". What is the difference between "Smart Economy" and "Internet Economy"? I would like to ask everyone here, who turned on the TV in the room last night, please raise your hand? No one raised their hands. This is the change we have made in the past decade. The Internet has changed the lives of each of us, especially the way we entertain. Our entertainment has changed from watching movies and watching TV to flashing short videos on mobile phones and playing games. I wo n’t ask last night, who of you has n’t turned on your phone, and I believe no one will raise your hand.
So this is what we have changed in the past decade. But in the next ten years, I also have a judgment: our dependence on mobile phones will decrease, and will gradually decrease. why? Think about it, when you enter your car, for example, you have a screen that is bigger than your phone. You have a very high-end speaker in your car, and you will have different cars in the future. All kinds of cameras, other sensors and the like ... So in the car, any device that corresponds to a mobile phone must be of higher quality than the mobile phone. Why do you still need to hold a mobile phone in the car? There is no such reason.
The development of artificial intelligence will make you no longer need to take out your mobile phone when you sit in the car in the future. You can use voice to talk to your car. Your car ’s screen display will be much more comfortable than your mobile phone. The songs on the car ’s audio will be much better than the mobile phone ’s. More importantly, your interaction with the car will become more natural.
I just said that cars and roads also have various interactions. It is fully integrated in the whole process and is seamlessly integrated. So you can imagine that when you are in the car in the next ten years, the frequency with which you use your phone must be reduced. The frequency of using your mobile phone at home will also decrease, and today we can also see some trends. Tens of millions of smart speakers are shipped in one year. So when you get home, if you want to know the weather tomorrow, if you want to know through your phone, you need to find the phone, take out the phone from your pocket, unlock it, open the APP, enter the corresponding keywords ... many many steps. But if you say something to a smart speaker, what weather is today or what is the PM2.5 index tomorrow? It can answer you immediately. Even if you ask it, what color pants should I wear with a blue top? It can also answer you.
Not only the speaker, but the TV is actually a big screen. It has been in your home for a long time. Its expressive power is theoretically much stronger than the mobile phone. Why don't we use it now? Because it is not smart enough. So when the era of intelligence comes, when the era of "smart economy" comes, these will change.
Of course, if we want to divide it, what has changed in the past ten years, and what has changed in the next ten years, I think that in the past ten years, our way of consumption has been greatly changed, but our way of production Was not changed badly. Therefore, in the next ten years, when the "smart economy" era comes, our production methods will undergo relatively big changes.
Stone Medicine CEO just said that he has more than one hundred new drugs under development. In fact, artificial intelligence technology can greatly speed up the development of new drugs. Those drug targets (drug targets) used to rely on their own experience to think about what is possible. In the future, artificial intelligence will continue to automatically generate some potential drug targets, which will greatly improve the development of new drugs. s efficiency.
At the same time, for example, many complicated processes in enterprises can be automated. So now there is a fashionable word called RPA, called robotic process automation. In the past, these things have been repetitively done by human brain work, and can be gradually replaced by machines and artificial intelligence, so it will greatly improve our production efficiency.
For example, like intelligent customer service, such as telecommunications and China Unicom, it has a lot of customer service personnel, and the questions answered by customers every day are very similar. So these customer service staff are also bored, and the efficiency is still very low. These things are learned through the computer, it can answer automatically. More importantly, there may be more than 100 packages for a telecommunications company. How can I figure out which package is best for this user within a minute or two? Computers are better at doing this than people.
Now some banks are engaged in "digital people", I want to open a credit card account, make a loan, etc. Many of these questions and answers have a certain fixed pattern. So the machine is better at drying. These things will profoundly change our production process.
Of course there is another direction where huge changes will take place, that is, changes in infrastructure. Infrastructure has also undergone great changes in the past decade. Many highways, subways, overpasses, and 2G to 3G to 4G in the telecommunications field have all been changed. But in the future, I think our infrastructure will undergo a greater degree of change, and the infrastructure in almost every field will undergo major changes.
For example, in the field of education, I think Teacher Yu must have thought about it. In the next ten years, it is completely conceivable that any student, any question, the assistant of the machine can answer this question personally, and in a targeted manner To solve these problems.
The same is true in the medical field. In the next ten years, it is entirely conceivable that an assistant can remind the doctor at any time not to have a medical accident or to prescribe two conflicting drugs to the same patient. We can all imagine this.
This is even more true in the field of transportation. Today we have almost no intelligence in transportation. When you think of intelligence, you will think of driverless cars, but the iteration speed of cars is actually relatively slow. A car may not be scrapped after ten years of driving. However, transportation is not a problem of bicycle intelligence, it is a problem that the entire transportation infrastructure must change with it. Today, even if there is no smart car on the road, and no car is connected, we can still use artificial intelligence technology to adjust the change time of traffic lights, to sense in real time how many cars are on the road, each car is What speed is going in which direction? Therefore, the control of such intelligent traffic lights can greatly improve the efficiency of traffic, and the speed of peak and morning traffic can be increased by 20% -30%.
If we use roadside equipment for road-road collaboration in the future, we will remind each car early what decision to make, and this traffic efficiency will be further improved. More importantly, the probability of traffic accidents will be greatly reduced.
All future cars will be connected cars. This has become a reality, not in the future. So how can these cars communicate with roadside equipment, how to improve the efficiency of traffic, and how to greatly reduce the probability of accidents? This is a problem that we need to solve immediately. More than 1 million people are killed in traffic accidents worldwide every year, and the death rate of 10,000 cars in China is much higher than that in developed countries. And these things, I think they can all make a big difference in the era of smart economy.
So we also look forward to it if we think about it in the long run. I talked about my own theory some time ago that artificial intelligence can make people live forever. What does it mean? In fact, today we can already store all kinds of data about people, your behavior, your photos, and recordings of your speech. You can digitize all kinds of data, and you can save it. Once these things are saved, the computer can learn the person's way of thinking. So one day we can imagine that when Tim Cook wants to decide whether Apple will develop a smart car, he can ask Steve Jobs what he thinks about this? Because the computer can already learn Steve Jobs' thinking logic.
When everyone's thinking logic can be learned, and when we digitize all these materials in his lifetime, does this person have eternal life in a certain sense? So the purpose of artificial intelligence is not to threaten and control people, but to help and serve them. Let us look forward to the arrival of a beautiful "smart economy" era, thank you!
